Taking the stage means giving it your all
When a lawyer or performer takes the stage, their whole being is exposed. They will not succeed without being fully prepared. There is a difference between being fully prepared without being handicapped by a script, and merely winging it, as Donald Trump so often does.
Two great video discussions of this concept are Gerry Spence’s addressing how out ability to persuade in trials boils down to how we prepare and work on ourselves more than on anything we do to change the judge or anyone else, and Garry Shandling and Gerry Seinfeld (minute 12:00) underlining how a comedian who feels the work is easy will fail.
In the process, the practitioner’s work should be permeated with his or her ch’i.
