Countless prison inmates thirst for a wide range of reading material. In part due to the many donations from religious organizations, prison libraries often include a substantial share of religious texts. However, in violation of the First Amendment’s guarantee of the free exercise of religion, the federal government has produced a list of approved religious texts, and has provided for the removal of the rest.
