How can lawyers help clients manage their stress and fears?

Criminal defense can be a healing art, and I discuss some of that artful approach here.

At this past weekend’s spectacular Cultivating Balance retreat, I met co-teacher Jeanne Anselmo, who presents a great discussion here (starting at minute 3:25) to help criminal defendants and everyone else facng trying times, in managing their stress, fears, and sense of imbalance.

I will let Jeanne’s words speak for themselves, while highlighting her following pearls:

– When walking into not knowing, it is important to maintain a positive frame of mind.

– It is important to have a present and positive awareness at all times.

– Einstein said a different kind of consciousness is needed to solve problems than the kind of consciousness that caused the problem.

Jeanne goes on to discuss a woman who came to her in dire financial and emotional straits, unemployed and with her apartment mate leaving the apartment, and thus leaving a higher monthly rental payment burden. Applying Jeanne’s coaching for dealing with stress, the woman found a job and got positively grounded again.
