Join me tonight at the SSDP Terps’ Know Your Rights event
If you are convenient to the University of Maryland’s main campus in College Park, I encourage you to come to tonight’s SSDP Terps’ “Know Your Rights” event.
The event will be at 7:00 p.m. tonight, October 11, 2010, Stamp Student Union, Benjamin Banneker B room, University of Maryland, College Park, Maryland.
The panelists are myself, Scott Morgan from Flex Your Rights, and James Bond from the University’s Rights and Responsibilities office.
If you are unable to be there, please spread the following links far and wide to reduce the number of my potential clients who get the stunned or awakened “aw sh*t” look when I inform them that they would have been wiser to have kept their traps shut with investigating police, and to have refused any and all searches:
– My Know Your Rights video. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9G2qr44XTAI
– My Top Ten list https://katzjustice.com/wp-content/uploads/top10.pdf for dealing with the police.
– The timeless Busted video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yqMjMPlXzdA by Flex Your Rights.
As to student disciplinary matters -— which I have been defending for years —- adverse consequences may arise for student disciplinary and campus housing disciplinary purposes when refusing searches by and conversations with campus housing officials. That is a reason to consider living off campus in the first place.
