Yesterday, Gordon Hirabayashi passed away. He resisted the curfews and concentration camps used against ethnic Japanese people by the United States government during World War II — which flew in the face of the very reasons used to justify the U.S. involvement in the war — later saying of those times: "My citizenship didn’t protect me one bit. Our Constitution was reduced to a scrap of paper.”
