On Sundays, I sometimes veer well beyond the law in my blog entries.

THE LAW WORLD

Va. Sup. Ct. reverses computer harassment conviction that applied a dictionary definition of obscenity.

Ca. Ct. App. reverses trial court’s denial of motion to strike bank defamation suit. YES!

D.C. Ct. App. reverses threat to damage property conviction, centered on D’s singing a modified Lil Wayne song.

Md. Ct. Spec. Appeals reverses conviction for violation of Interstate Agreement on Detainers.

D.C. Ct. App.: No merger for convictions of carrying unlicensed pistol, felon w/firearm, and unregistered firearm.

Md. COSA affirms PWID MJ conviction, and addresses distinction between independent source and inevitable discovery.

Two years in prison for driving while texting fatality.

In Maryland, starting October 2012, criminal parties may designate in writing pretrial issues appealable in guilty plea cases.

D.C. Cir. reverses dismissal for failure to prosecute pro se claim of payment failure by Saudi royal family members.

Canadian website and individual owner risk prosecution for posting of gruesome vid.  w/o benefit of U.S. v. Stevens.

SCOTUS grants secret service agent immunity over arrest that later was dismissed for allegedly harassing Cheney.
