Thich Nhat Hanh’s “You Are Here: Discovering the Magic of the Present Moment”
Recently, I started reading Thich Nhat Hanh’s You Are Here: Discovering the Magic of the Present Moment. It apparently was first published in French in 2001, and not published in an English translation until this year.
Some of You are Here’s key teachings include:
– “Compassion is not possible without pain and and suffering.” Many of my criminal defense clients certainly experience much of both.
– “Compassion and love are you, but anger is, too.” “All three are organic in nature.” “You can transform them.”
-The garbage of depression and anger can become flowers, just as flowers can become garbage, and flowers again.
