Whistleblower Thomas Tamm will avoid federal prosecution

Apr 27, 2011 Whistleblower Thomas Tamm will avoid federal prosecution

Two years ago, I blogged about Thomas Tamm, who honorably followed in Daniel Ellsberg’s footsteps (but Tamm certainly is no rabble-rouser, unlike Ellsberg, and Tamm prefers to stay out of the spotlight) by blowing the whistle on Bush II administration warrantless spying on Americans’ phone calls with those abroad, and admitting publicly that he did so. (By the way, Barack Obama has not been a great friend of civil liberties, either, but is not as bad as Bush II in that arena.)

Politico reported yesterday that Mr. Tamm will not be prosecuted. The decision not to prosecute comes too late, but still is very welcomed.
