Why has Barack Obama, through Attorney General Holder, waited over four years after he was first elected to admit as much as Holder did yesterday (verbatim here, at the ABA conference) (which was not enough of an admission, as it stands) about the injustice of the Drug War? Holder’s admission only covers drug dealing in small amounts and the need to keep more of the small amount drug prosecutions in state court, but I will accept that start versus no start at all.

Will Obama’s successor have the courage not to backtrack from Holder’s announcement, and to expand into further curbs of the injustices of the drug war? Your votes in the next Congressional elections, presidential primaries, and presidential election will help answer that question.
