SUPPORTING SEXUAL FREEDOM AMONG CONSENTING ADULTS

    The United States suffers from a severely bipolar relationship with sex. On the one hand, the 1960's and 1970's unleashed revolutionary sexual liberation, and the pendulum continues swinging in that direction on balance. On the other hand, Puritanism continues to invade sexual mores in America. Add to the mix feminists who want to ban adult entertainment versus feminists who oppose such bans.  

    Sexual freedom among consenting adults must be protected. This should not be a matter of whether or not we like certain sexual activities, lest we become a Stepford society. Nor should it be a matter of whether the sexual activities are degrading, lest we have more of a censoring society than we have already. Nor should it be a question of whether the sexual activities will increase criminal activity, lest we become an even more surreal society where even more thought police scour and stop even our most private activities and information, all in the name of preempting even the thought of any crime.  

     The notion that sexual freedom causes criminal activity is specious at best. More probable is that a sexually-repressed society -- without safety valves for consenting adults -- breeds infinitely more problems. 

    Consequently, JON KATZ, P.C., supports widespread consensual sexual freedom, running from visual adult entertainment to alternative sexual activity to sex for pay. In that regard, we are founding members of the Free Speech Coalition of the District of Columbia, Maryland and Virginia, with partner Jon Katz as its past and founding President. We look forward to the day when we cannot earn a dime in this area of law practice -- when consensual sexual activity will no longer be censored. Until that day, we will keep on fighting for this vital cause. Uncensored adult entertainment is critical to First Amendment rights. Protected consensual adult sexual relations is critical, at the very minimum, to prevent government from unjustly interfering in a multitude of other private human activities.
